The Same Injector Receives Conflicting Results Under Different Test-Bench Software Versions, Prompting North Macedonian Test Centres to Verify Programme IDs, Adapter Condition and Reference-Unit Results

Conflicting Test Results Create Uncertainty for Buyers and Repairers
A diesel injector may be classified as serviceable by one test centre and rejected by another, even when both workshops use modern common-rail test benches. For North Macedonian repairers and parts distributors, this creates uncertainty about whether the injector condition changed during transport or whether the two benches used different test conditions.
One important variable is the software programme loaded into the test equipment. Updated programmes may change test pressure, pulse width, measurement duration or permitted delivery range. Adapter wear, fuel temperature and bench calibration can also influence the result.
A pass or fail conclusion is therefore most useful when it is supported by a traceable test configuration.
Why Software Versions Matter
Test-bench software does more than display measured values. It controls how the injector is operated during each test point.
Programme differences may affect:
- Rail or test pressure;
- Electrical pulse width;
- Cycle count;
- Test-fluid temperature;
- Starting-delivery conditions;
- Idle and load points;
- Return-flow duration;
- Permitted measurement ranges.
A newer programme is not automatically correct for every injector. The test centre must confirm that the selected profile matches the complete OE number and injector generation.
Record the Programme Identity
The report should identify the programme name, programme ID or revision used during testing. This allows a later workshop to determine whether it repeated the same test or used a different configuration.
Without this information, two reports showing different results cannot be compared reliably.
Adapter Condition Can Change Measured Delivery
High-pressure adapters, return connectors and electrical interfaces must seal correctly.
A worn adapter cone may release a small amount of fuel at higher pressure. A restricted return adapter can also affect internal pressure behaviour and measured leak-off.
Before rejecting an injector, technicians should inspect:
- Adapter sealing surfaces;
- Threads;
- Return fittings;
- Electrical contacts;
- Hose routing;
- Evidence of external leakage.
The same verified adapter set should be used when comparing repeated tests.
Using a Reference Injector
Establishing a Bench Baseline
A reference injector with stable, documented behaviour can help determine whether the bench produces repeatable results.
The reference unit should be tested before or after the disputed injector using the same programme, fluid temperature and adapters.
If the reference result also changes, the bench or test setup requires investigation.
Comparing Several Test Cycles
One isolated measurement should not determine the final conclusion. Repeated cycles can reveal whether the injector result is stable or affected by trapped air, temperature or an intermittent electrical connection.
Information Buyers Should Request
A useful injector test report should include:
- Complete injector OE number;
- Programme ID or software revision;
- Test-fluid temperature;
- Test pressure;
- Pulse width;
- Cycle count;
- Measured delivery;
- Return-flow result;
- Permitted range;
- Bench or operator reference.
These details support technical comparison without implying that all test benches must use identical software platforms.
Industry Interpretation
North Macedonian test centres can reduce conflicting conclusions by treating software control, adapters and calibration as part of the injector test itself.
When two reports disagree, the correct response is not to choose the newer machine automatically. The application, programme identity, test conditions, adapter integrity and reference-unit behaviour should be reviewed together.
A traceable test process gives repairers and B2B buyers a stronger basis for injector selection, warranty review and acceptance.
