One Engine Family May Support Several Generator Ratings

Diesel generator manufacturers may use the same basic engine family across several power outputs and rated-speed configurations. Injector OE Number

All markings on the removed injector should be recorded, including manufacturer reference, OE number and calibration code.

ECU and Software Information

Where diagnostic access is available, the ECU part number, software version and stored injector codes should be documented.

Why Physical Comparison Is Not Enough

Two injectors may share:

• Body dimensions;
• Connector design;
• Hold-down position;
• High-pressure inlet;
• Return connection.

Their internal nozzle specification, maximum delivery, response characteristics or calibration data can still differ.

Installing the wrong calibration may contribute to cylinder imbalance, unstable frequency, smoke, load-acceptance problems or recurring correction values.

These symptoms must still be diagnosed properly because similar behaviour can result from fuel pressure, air supply or governor-control issues.

Test-Report Requirements

A model-specific injector report should identify operating points relevant to the generator application.

These may include:

• Starting delivery;
• Fixed-speed idle or low-load delivery;
• Medium-load quantity;
• Rated-load delivery;
• Return flow;
• Nozzle sealing;
• Electrical response.

The test conditions should show pressure, pulse width, temperature and applicable limits.

Installation and Coding

After installation, technicians should verify the correct cylinder code assignment where coding is required.

The generator should be tested under staged electrical load while monitoring:

• Engine speed;
• Frequency;
• Rail pressure;
• Cylinder correction;
• Exhaust temperature;
• Smoke;
• Fuel leakage.

A brief no-load start cannot confirm correct injector calibration under rated operation.

Industry Interpretation

Jordanian generator service companies can reduce application errors by linking injector selection to engine serial number, rated speed, power configuration and ECU application.

The general engine family is useful for initial identification, but it does not fully describe the generator’s calibrated fuel requirement.

A replacement injector should match the complete operating configuration—not only the shape of the component or the name printed on the engine cover.
